Basics

Here we will learn about some basics of Excel.

1.               Ribbon: When we open a new file in Excel the selected tab at ribbon will be Home tab. Here we will learn how to use the ribbon.

2.               Workbook: Microsoft Excel’s files are called Workbook that will be saved with your own required file name.

3.               Worksheets: A worksheet is a collection of cells where we can keep and manipulate our data. Initially each Excel workbook contains four (04) worksheets. The worksheets can be added or deleted.

4.               Format Cells: When we format cells in Excel, we change the appearance of a number without changing the number itself.

5.               Find & Select: Through Find & Select feature we can easily Find, Replace and Go To any required Number and data.

6.               Templates: we can create a workbook with the help of templates instead of creating a new Excel workbook from scratch; many free templates are available for use.

7.               Data Validation: Data validation is used to enter a specific value or data type into a cell.

8.               Keyboard Shortcuts: Keyboard shortcuts are used to increase our speed.

9.               Print: Here we will learn how to take a print of a worksheet and how to change print settings.

10.           Share: In this chapter we will learn how to share and export Excel data with Word documents.

11.           Protect: In this chapter we will learn how to protect or encrypt an Excel file with a password.
